Warning Signs of Hearing Loss

Sometimes a hearing problem can creep up
on you very gradually so that you don’t even
know that it’s happening.  You may be
experiencing some difficulty in understanding what people are saying.  The following are some of the warning signs of a hearing problem:

  • Do you find yourself asking “what did you say?”

  • If you feel everyone seems to be mumbling.

  • If you feel I can hear but I can’t understand.

  • If family members are telling you the TV volume is too loud.

  • If it seems like some words sound a like and it’s hard to tell them apart.

  • Difficulty in hearing higher pitched sounds like the beeper on a watch or female voices, or younger childrens’ voices. This could also include bird sounds and maybe cricket type sounds.

  • You may be experiencing more difficulty in group or background noise environment.

If you have some of these feelings, please refer to the hearing handicapped inventory test questionnaire to see how you score.
