Troubleshooting Your Hearing Aid

If your hearing aid fails to operate, the first
thing to do is to check the battery to make
sure it’s fresh.  You can do this by a volt
meter or you can take the battery from your other hearing aid if its working and use that.  You do not want to peel the sticker or label off the back of

several batteries.  If you can’t get the hearing aid working, check for wax from the receiver sound tube area (that’s the part where the sound comes out which is down in your ear canal.  Brush or clean any wax you might see.

If you still cannot get the hearing aid working, take it to your hearing aid dispenser.  They will definitely check to see if there is something they can do in the office to get it working again.   If not, a repair may be indicated.  Most aids can be refurbished to original specifications.  You have to be careful on older aids as they may fit loose and allow feedback whistle after repair.
