How a Hearing Aid Functions

Basic analog hearing aids have a microphone
and amplifier and a receiver or minature
speaker.  The sound is picked up by the
microphone and amplified then put down into the ear canal.  The prescription of the hearing aid is designed so that it best accommodates for the hearing loss.  Then there are usually some screwdriver adjustable controls, aside from

the volume control, that can be used to fine tune the hearing aid.  Hearing aids can also be programmed with the computer.  There are many different circuits involved with programmable hearing aids.  Please refer to the digital versus 100% digital for information in that category.  Also refer to the product section for the different circuits.
