Adapting to Amplification

If you are a first-time wearer of amplification,
you will probably encounter sounds and
noises that you haven’t heard in a number of
years.  At first, these sounds maybe somewhat annoying to you.  This is because the brain has had a lack of proper stimulation for probably a number of years.  You need to be relaxed and expect to take a while to adapt to

listening with the hearing aid.  Gradually as you wear the hearing aid, the sounds will be reintroduced to the brain and the brain will start to feel more comfortable with these many sounds.  If not, there is a possibility that an adjustment to the hearing aids might be necessary.  You should contact your audiologist/ to have this done as soon as possible rather than put it off.  This is a very simple answer to a complicated question.  Usually there is a complete rehabilitation program that your dispenser has established for you.
